The Owudon Foundation will proudly mark a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of new classrooms, an initiative aimed at addressing the pressing need for enhanced educational infrastructure.
The project seeks to provide a safe, modern, and conducive learning environment for students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. By building extra classrooms, the foundation aims to reduce overcrowding, improve access to quality education, and create opportunities for academic and personal growth.
The ceremony will feature a symbolic turning of the soil, signifying the beginning of this transformative initiative.
The Domi Beposo Anglican Basic School, known before as St. Augustine’s Anglican Primary & KG School, was founded on June 24, 1914, under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Echie, who also served as the Parish Priest of Domi Beposo St. Augustine’s Anglican Church. The school began with twelve students—five females and seven males—hailing from the communities of Domi Beposo, Ayirebikrom, Kensere, and Manso Suntreso. Initially, classes were held in the church due to the lack of proper structures in the area.
In September 2015, the Domi Beposo Anglican JHS was established under the leadership of Mr. Owusu Mathias as Headteacher, supported by four staff members: Mr. Adjei John (Assistant Headteacher), Mr. Obeng Appiah Collins (Planning Officer), Mr. Opoku Christopher (Secretary), and Mr. Frimpong Richard (Financial Advisor). Over the years, the school has nurtured numerous accomplished individuals who have gone on to make significant contributions to society.
Today, the school serves over 280 students with nine classrooms, thirteen teachers, and other facilities. However, the school faces critical challenges and urgently requires support from all stakeholders to improve its infrastructure and ensure its legacy continues. It is a call to action for everyone to come together and invest in the future of Domi Beposo’s only school, just as others have done their part. Let us work collectively to create a brighter future for our children.
